Making Some Progress

Wow things have been crazy around my house lately. We have a lot of projects going on at the same time right now and my entire house has been rearranged- until last night! I was finally able to finish a small update I was doing in my bedroom. Here is a before picture of our bedroom:

I know, what a very sad bedroom! After thinking about how we'd like our bedroom to look we decided to switch up the colors and go a lighter, more relaxing route. We settled on a new color palette of white, grey, and greyish-teal. We also decided to get a king size bed. And let me tell you... it's wonderful!! Anyways, without further ado, here is our bedroom now:

We are not finished with the bedroom yet but I feel like we have made some good progress. Next on the to do list for the bedroom is painting the walls a light grey, adding a bench to the end of the bed, putting some art on the wall, making a headboard and a few more little things. I am very excited about the new direction of the bedroom!! What do you think?

What's Wrong With This Picture?

I was very excited to learn that the new Ikea catalog is now available to view online!! So I ventured to the Ikea website to check it out. I like a lot of their new stuff and price reductions... but I couldn't help but be annoyed by something! Do you see anything wrong with this picture?

I am a BIG fan of the gallery style wall pictured on pages 264 - 265, but I am also a bit OCD about certain things like this:

Does it bother anyone else that one of the picture frames is crooked? Maybe it's just me...

"Modern Art" No More

Look what I picked up today:

Paint!!! Yessss...

So guess what that means?

No more paint sample "modern art" in the living room! Here's my husband sitting on the floor stirring the paint and watching the Rangers game. Boys and their sports...

Well we have one wall done right now, but we hope to do more tomorrow. I can't wait to share the finished  job with you! Woohoo!

Mastering the Art of Relaxing

Nothing says relaxing to me more than a white comforter. Something about them just puts me in a zen state of mind. We are in the market for a king sized bed for our master bedroom -- which means will be able to buy new bedding soon!!! Woohoo! Here are a few pictures that inspire me:

I love the soothing tones of this picture. Everything seems so pure and relaxing!

I like the luxurious look of this comforter with the punch of turquoise/teal (my favorite color)!

This is another example of a white comforter with a tealish blue color pop! Do you see a theme here?

I think we're going to look at beds tomorrow!! So I hope we're be able to find bedding soon. Or we'll be sleeping in a king size bed with queen sized sheets and comforter. Not sure how great that would work out?!?

I have yet to find that perfect white comforter though. Please chime in if you think you know where that comforter is hiding.

What a Difference a Spray Makes...

I have a couple projects going on this week but I wanted to get on here and share a little mini post.
I picked up a cute little owl at Marshall's the other day and decided it could be even cuter if I spray painted it. Here he is in all of his brassy glory...

And here he is after a couple coats of white spray paint...

I think the white paint made the features of the owl stand out more -- loving the result! Let me know what you think. I should have more projects coming your way soon...

Weekend Finds

Last weekend I made a trip to Ikea and TJ Maxx and found some pretty great stuff!

Here are a few of my finds:

A laptop table from Ikea to make blogging while lounging on the couch easier.

White dishes from Ikea from Ikea that remind me of these dishes from Crate and Barrel which are about 4 times the price of my Ikea finds! And I'm absolutely ok with getting the look and not the cost!

I found this cute little lamp at TJ Maxx for $20!! Love it!

Last but not least I got a little green plant for my kitchen window. I want to introduce more plants into my home. The last one I had was an aloe vera plant, which I accidentally killed because i forgot to give it enough sunlight. Let's hope this cute little plant doesn't have the same out come.

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...

I have been looking for fabric to reupholster the dining room chairs for a while now. So I thought I'd give you a little peek into my indecisive mind... here are my current favs!

I think something a little different like-

Or something more basic-

And then there's this BOLD fabric-

This is pretty loud! But I love it!

I'd also like to get two more chairs (so I could seat 8 in the dining room). I don't want them to match the current chairs though. I'm very inspired by this picture.

Another thing I have planned for the dining room is painting the (not so) lovely 80's gold chandalier. I am torn between more subtle colors like white or black and something more bold -- like yellow!

Well, if I can ever make up my mind on ANYTHING I will be back here with a tutorial on painting a  chandelier or reupholstering chairs. Till then, I'll just be here looking for more inspirations that will probably make me even more confused. I have a serious problem... hah!
